For the past fifteen summers, I have been conducting a summer institute on the Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I will be holding an Virtual (Online) institute June 15th-17th, 2020. This summer institute provides a mechanism for building leadership teams to learn about what full implementation looks like, assess their building needs, and develop an action-plan for continual improvement. The content has been updated to focus on the latest research in educational practices and system improvement with a focus on fidelity of implementation.
Sessions have been specifically modified to support an online learning environment. The agenda will include a mix of online presentations of new content, open Q &A, and time for your teams to collaborate (either online or in person, as conditions allow). Presenters will be available to check in with teams for specific questions as well.
The purpose of the summer institute will be to train teams from your buildings on best practices in implementing and evaluating core (all students), supplemental (some students), and intensive (few students) instructional programs. We have added content on equity, social-emotional, reading and math practices, selecting interventions, along with the latest research-based strategies for improving academic achievement. Similar to previous years, time will be built into the conference for reflection and analysis of current building and district needs along with evaluation of implementation efforts.
At the end of the 3-day institute, it is my hope that your teams will leave with the tools they need to implement change in your building or district. We strongly encourage you to consider sending teams that have balanced representation between regular and special education along with a building administrator.
